Unforgettable Japan

A aourney aboard Heritage Adventurer

Unforgettable Japan

23 June, 2025

Wow!!! Thank you so much for the most amazing experience. There is not one part of the trip that I did not like. The crew were absolutely amazing, the ship was fabulous, the guests on board were all lovely and I think we met them all. It was so nice to be able to dine with different people each time and hear their life stories. Lifelong friends were made!

I am now and expedition cruise convert and look forward to experiencing many more in the future, especially with Heritage Expeditions.

The hardest part of the cruise was choosing experiences for each day. I wish sometimes you could jump between daily plans as there were always bits of one and another that you wanted to do.

We had some great Sake and games nights with some of the guests which brought out everyone’s competitive spirits. It is funny how much fun a game of scrabble can be when you have Sake to go with it!!

Above: Fishing boat escort into Iwajima

I think my highlight was the Japanese people. One morning we were pulling into Iwajima Island and the locals came out on their fishing boats to escort us in. The boats were all decorated with flags and one boat had a tiny 5yr old girls on board. She was waving her flag with so much effort and just so excited to see us. I understand that during that day the Captain invited her onboard to see the ship and she was so excited. It was such a great experience.

The send offs as we left a port were always great entertainment. Drums, gun salutes, singing, dancing, flag waving, it all just made us feel so special.

Thank you Japan, Heritage Adventurer and Wild Earth Travel for giving us such a wonderful experience that we will remember forever.

What were your Top 3 cruise highlights?

  1. Ports of Call were all fantastic and loved the two different options of itineraries for the day although sometimes it was hard to pick between them

  2. The night we had the BBQ dinner and all the crew were singing and dancing was great fun. Fantastic relaxed atmosphere

  3. Information sessions were all very good, especially the night we made paper cranes. Having the Japanese guides on board was excellent too.
