Roundtrip from Piraeus, gateway to Athens and the iconic Acropolis of Athens, this voyage explores lesser-known harbours and storied islands across the Aegean. In Pythagoreio on Samos, ancient engineering and harbour life meet beneath the legacy of Pythagoras. Çeşme brings Ottoman-era character and a vibrant marina on Türkiye’s coast, followed by the quiet authenticity of Skyros in the Sporades. Skopelos combines pine-fringed beaches with traditional architecture, while Poros offers access to the ancient theatre of Epidaurus and the sanctuary of Asclepius before returning to Piraeus.

Highlights

• The Tunnel of Eupalinos and archaeological heritage of Pythagoreio, Samos.

• Contrasting island character from cosmopolitan Çeşme to unspoilt Skyros and Skopelos.

• Classical heritage near Poros, including Epidaurus and the sanctuary of Asclepius.

Walking in the shadow of the Acropolis in the Agora, you can almost hear the voices of Plato, Socrates and Aristotle arguing about who was the greatest philosopher. Ancient Athens, the birthplace of democracy and epicenter of western civilization, is a city for all eternity. Piraeus is the port of Athens, just 15km from the city and 45km from the airport.

Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, a revitalising spa (Royal Clipper only) and a peaceful library.

Named in honour of the great philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoreio on the island of Samos combines ancient history with authentic island charm. Passengers can stroll along the pretty harbour, where fishing boats and yachts sway gently beside waterside cafés, or explore nearby archaeological remains that whisper of the island’s glorious past. The site of the Tunnel of Eupalinos - a feat of ancient engineering - lies close by, while shaded tavernas invite a leisurely lunch by the sea. Blending history, tranquillity, and gentle beauty, Samos offers a serene taste of the Aegean, steeped in wisdom and timeless grace.

On Türkiye’s sun-drenched Aegean coast, Çeşme combines laid-back elegance with a touch of old-world charm. Passengers can stroll through its whitewashed streets, shaded by bougainvillea, and browse stylish boutiques or traditional craft shops. The marina buzzes with life - chic cafés, sailing yachts, and the scent of the sea drifting on the breeze. Beyond the harbour, thermal springs and golden beaches invite pure relaxation, while nearby Alaçatı enchants with its stone houses and vibrant atmosphere. Whether savouring local seafood or simply watching the sunset over the castle, Çeşme captures the very essence of the Turkish Riviera.

Remote and unspoiled, Skyros is the hidden gem of the Sporades - an island of gentle hills, whitewashed villages, and deep-blue bays. Passengers arriving here will find a tranquil rhythm of island life untouched by time. The island’s main town, also called Skyros, lies across the island at 10 km from the port. Its narrow lanes wind up to a Byzantine castle and monastery perched above the sea. Local shops here offer handmade ceramics and carved wooden figures. The beaches are peaceful, the water is crystal clear, and the welcome is warm and genuine. With its quiet beauty and authentic charm, Skyros invites visitors to experience a serene, sunlit and timeless Greece.

This picturesque island, made famous by the film ‘Mamma Mia!’, offers a unique blend of unspoilt nature and traditional Greek culture. Wander through the narrow streets of Skopelos Town with its whitewashed houses and Byzantine churches, relax on dreamy beaches such as Panormos and Kastani, and enjoy delicious local cuisine.

Poros, sometimes called Kavalria, is very close to the Argolid peninsula. It is home to the Greek Naval Academy and visitors can hear the cadet band every morning. Above all, Paros is a gateway to the sanctuary of Asclepius, the Mecca of Greek medicine, and the theatre of Epidaurus, built to host the Asclepia (or Asclepian Games), a competition in honour of the physician god Asclepius. It served as a model for many other Greek theatres...
