Earlier this year, Aaron Russ and his family explored the Kimberley aboard Heritage Adventurer. Key highlights of their voyage included:

• Ancient rock art sites, still remarkably well preserved, offering insight into thousands of years of culture and storytelling.

• Snorkelling at Ashmore Reef among vibrant marine life, with large flocks of seabirds, including boobies, overhead.


• Montgomery Reef, where dozens of turtles were sighted, along with a memorable humpback whale encounter.

• Visits to King George and Mitchell Falls. The swimming was a tad cool, but the late dry season ensured waterfalls were still flowing strongly in July.

• A day featuring five different sites, including a midden located 60 metres above the water, and a WWII plane crash site.


• Striking sunrises and sunsets, with vivid colours unique to the Kimberley.
