Embark on a unique river cruise through the South of France from Avignon to La Voulte-sur-Rhône. Taste hallowed truffles, cycle through lavender fields and gather on deck for captivating evenings. Retreat to your spacious cabin for a blissful night’s rest. This is life aboard Napoléon, the largest, most sociable barge in our fleet.
Board Napoléon in Avignon for your cruise along the river rhône. Toast the start of your adventure with chilled champagne as you meet your dedicated crew and guide. After settling into your plush cabin, enjoy your first gastronomic experience on board, a perfect blend of seasonal delicacies, irresistible wines and balmy, bucolic views.
This morning, your chef escorts you to Avignon’s covered market. Discover more of southern France's specialities and pick out some local produce. Afterwards, join your guide for a stroll into the walled city of Avignon. Return to the barge for a leisurely lunch and cruise to Vallabrègues. This afternoon, you may perhaps indulge in a relaxed swim beneath the magnificent Pont du Gard, a remarkable piece of Roman architecture. Tonight, dinner is served onboard.
After a delicious breakfast, you may wish to embark on a walking tour of Arles. With extraordinary Roman ruins, shady boulevards and colourful houses baking beneath the sun, the old town famously inspired the artist Van Gogh, who painted hundreds of works here from 1888-9. Return to the boat for lunch as you cruise back to Avignon. This evening, prepare for a sumptuous dinner in a beautiful local restaurant.
This morning, we take a scenic cruise to the beautiful rural mooring of Roquemaure. Enjoy lunch on board before alighting with your guide to visit Châteauneuf du Pape, summer residence of the Avignon popes, but equally famous for its stunning wines. Visit a private winery and taste their prestigious reds. This evening, relax over dinner on board.
Unwind onboard this morning during a leisurely cruise through the Bollène-Écluse. Savour a lunch of seasonal delicacies on board before arriving in Viviers. Take the opportunity to wander through this tiny medieval city that brims with historic charm. Later, ignite your senses on a visit to a typical Provençal lavender farm, where the colours and scents are intoxicating. Return to Napoléon for dinner and a chilled evening under the stars.
Your guide may suggest a morning jaunt to Grignan, famous for its wild roses. Enjoy a precious tasting at a prestigious truffle farm. Linger over lunch at a charming local restaurant before returning to the barge. We moor in Tournon, just past the Côtes du Rhône vineyards. Just a few steps from the barge lies a distinguished local winery, where a private tour and tasting is arranged for you to enjoy, while Chef prepares your farewell feast onboard.
Please check out this morning by 09:00. After breakfast, your crew bids you farewell as you disembark for your onward travel arrangements. We look forward to welcoming you back on board soon.
