Discover the glittering Dalmatian coast aboard the Peregrine Dalmatia on this 8-day cruising adventure from Dubrovnik to Split

Experience old-world charm of Croatia on a small ship adventure cruise along the Dalmation Coast. An idyllic island escape in the middle of Europe, Croatia offers up impressive coastlines, meandering rivers, and the sparkling waters of the Adriatic to swim in. Alongside the natural beauty of national parks and stunning beaches, enjoy regular doses of the region’s unique culture and tastes. Aboard the M/S Peregrine Dalmatia, specifically built to sail the Dalmatian Coast, cast off from Dubrovnik and cruise to islands both chic and ancient. Explore the romantic and evocative Old Town of Korcula. Board wooden boats and stop in at Mostar, a town situated in a beautiful valley in the high mountains. Navigate the Adriatic to the Renaissance facades and jagged limestone cliffs of Hvar, then discover the soul of Croatia – Split.

Is this trip right for you?

This is a small ship adventure cruise, which means you’ll be sailing on a yacht with up to 30 other people. The boat is spacious and comfortable, but it focuses more on the destination than on-board activities. Instead of a pool, we have the sea itself. Instead of a casino, we’ve got board games and a good book. There’s also no formal dress code to worry about. Wi-Fi is available for a small charge.

Our ship moves under engine power, rather than sailing, so all cabins will experience light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when we drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

Unlike other ships that cruise through the night, we’ll spend our evenings docked at port. This will give you more time to dine ashore and enjoy those balmy Croatian evenings. Cruising will mostly take place during the day.

Onshore activities and excursions will involve a bit of walking. You’ll be visiting ancient sites and historical places, and at times you may have to cross cobbled streets and uneven ground, sometimes in hot conditions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your group leader before taking part.

If you’re concerned about seasickness, there are seasickness tablets on-board. The ship will experience some roll and pitch in choppy conditions, however all of our ships come equipped with stabilisers to minimise movement. Most of our departures run in peak season, when the seas are calmer. Your crew will do all they can to minimise any discomfort.

There are no lifts (elevators) on-board our ships, so you’ll have to navigate a few steep flights of stairs. Handrails are always available.

Board the ship at 5 pm and meet your crew and fellow travellers over a welcome drink and introductory meeting. Tonight, enjoy your first dinner on board. Special Information Bags can be dropped off at the ship from noon. Feel free to explore Dubrovnik at your leisure until boarding commences at 5pm.
After breakfast set sail for Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo, with lunch on board and if time permits, a quick swim stop en route. In the afternoon, embark on an orientation walk before enjoying an evening to explore at your own pace. If you're hungry, your leader can assist with dinner recommendations. Special Information Sailing time between Dubrovnik and Korcula is approximately 6hrs, depending on the conditions
Depart for Opuzen, enjoying breakfast on board and a mid-morning swim stop in beautiful clear turquoise waters near the small island of Badija, then continue on to Trpani. Transfer to Matusko winery for a tour of the vineyard and a tasting, before returning to the ship and sailing up the River Neretva to Opuzen. Tonight, enjoy a deck BBQ on the Peregrine Dalmatia.
An early start this morning to make our way to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina by minibus. Take a guided walk through the town, visiting a workshop specialising in traditional coffee sets and copper wall carvings on the way and enjoy some free time to explore the town and have lunch at your leisure. Return to Opuzen in the early afternoon when we will jump into small wooden boats for a leisurely cruise through the surrounding wetlands (with local snacks and music on board). End up at a beautiful local restaurant overlooking the water for Peka lamb and other local dishes. Board the boats to return to Opuzen. You may want to venture out to one of the friendly bars around the town square to meet the locals over a beer or two.
Sail into Jelsa on the island of Hvar and take a private transfer to a local farm for local produce tasting and a walk through the nearby lavender fields, then drive to Hvar town. Explore on a walk with your leader before continuing on to Starigrad in the evening.
Spend the morning sailing, arriving in Split in the early afternoon. You will meet a local guide who will take you on a walk around Split, then the afternoon is yours to enjoy some free time to explore the beautiful lane ways and squares of the old city. Special Information Sailing times between Hvar and Split are approximately 5.5hrs, depending on the conditions.
After a leisurely breakfast on board, head out with some more time to explore the Split’s old city. After lunch, return to the boat ready to take your private bus transfer to Krka National Park. Here you will board a small boat for some cruising and exploring within the park. The park spans two thirds of the Krka River, and some 142 square kilometres. You visit some of the gorgeous waterfalls for which this park is renowned, stopping for a refreshing swim or two along the way. Afterwards, return by bus to Split, in time for a captain's dinner for your evening repast. Special Information The wooden jetties and walkways in Krka National Park can be quite slippery. Do ensure take care, ensuring your footwear has a resonable grip, and the stunning scenery will be well worth it.
Your small ship adventure cruise along the Dalmatian coast ends after breakfast this morning. Should you require a transfer to Split international airport, please enquire with your Travel Consultant prior to travel or your Tour Leader during your trip.

Highlights

• Board a traditional vessel and sail up along the spectacular Neretva River, inland from Opuzen.

• The trip includes an excursion to Krka National Park, where you’ll get a chance to swim in secluded pools and beneath waterfalls.

• If you’re worried about long cruise days, this itinerary is a good choice. There are plenty of excursions, short walks and port stops, and the distance between islands is short.

• While large cruise liners have to moor out at sea and commute into shore via tender, we drop anchor in the middle of port towns like Hvar or Korcula. You can hop on or off the boat as you please.

• There’s nothing like diving into the aquamarine waters of the Dalmatian Coast. Weather permitting, our captain will be stopping the ship for regular swim breaks during the trip.

• This itinerary includes a special detour to Mostar, in Boznia and Herzegovina. It’s not a stop featured on many Croatian coastal tours. You’ll see the town’s iconic bridge and have the chance to chat with local craftsmen and metalworkers.
