Arctic

Based on our long experience of polar travel, we offer a range of expeditions which encapsulates the true essence of this spectacular region. From the pristine landscapes and paramount wildlife of Svalbard to the epic glacial expanses of Greenland, there is so much to discover in these northern climes. You can experience the ethereal beauty and rich birdlife of the Scottish Islands or embark in the footsteps of early pioneers in a memorable expedition to the North Pole.

The expeditions around 'Spitsbergen', 'Greenland', 'Iceland' and 'Scotland' are on board rugged (52-berth) vessels that have been specially designed for research and travel in these northern waters. The vessels provide warm, comfortable accommodation, while at the same time retaining an atmosphere of discovery and adventure. Departing on shore & coastal excursions in smaller zodiac crafts, you will encounter scenery of outstanding natural beauty and some fabulous marine & terrestrial wildlife.
Our voyages to the 'North Pole' and 'Franz Josef Land' employ genuine icebreaking ships which enable travel to much higher latitudes than would be possible by other vessels. These also feature superb comfort and facilities, offering helicopter excursions for unforgettable views of the Arctic scenery.
Your guides on these voyages will be experienced naturalists, biologists and historians, who have travelled extensively in these remote regions. They will offer regular seminars on the wildlife, geology, peoples and many other aspects of the places visited. They will also provide advice on polar photography to help you record your own impressions of these memorable expeditions.
