Antarctica

Antarctica is one of the most beautiful places on earth, it is a continent of extremes; the coldest, the driest, and the windiest. These extremes merely confirm that Antarctica is a spectacular wilderness, a wilderness of many different landscapes filled with wildlife still unafraid of humans. No one owns Antarctica, nor should they, it is one place that visas are not required but an understanding and a sense of responsible travel is.  Travel to Antarctica for most people is a life changing experience. There is no comparable experience. It is more than a physical journey it encourages you to participate with all your senses. Life will never be the same.

There are two major gateways to Antarctica, South America or New Zealand/Australia. The majority of visitors use the South American gateway, to visit the Antarctic Peninsula and the Falklands & South Georgia islands.

Our sister company in the Heritage Travel Group - Heritage Expeditions operators expeditions from New Zealand on its own Expedition Vessel the 'Spirit of Enderby'.  They have three expeditions departing New Zealand each austral summer, one to East Antarctica and the other two to the Ross Sea.
