Highlights

• Discover Alaska with it's bears larger than bison, national parks the size of nations, and glaciers bigger than other US states. The word ‘epic’ barely does Alaska justice.

• Visit Nome with it's the rustic charm of a former gold-digging town.

• Discover an exceptional site: Unalaska Island. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea, on the Aleutian Islands, the island offers you unique landscapes: volcanic summits swept by the wind and surrounded by the sea, lush green valleys, sometimes covered with bright Summer flowers, sometimes with deep Winter snow.

• Stop at Sitka that is brimming with history.

Located along the Bering Strait, at the westernmost point of Alaska, Nome offers the rustic charm of a former gold-digging town, set in the middle of magnificent wilderness. As you weave in and out of the brightly houses surrounded at a distance by crenulated ramparts that have kept their whiteness, you will discover the pioneering legacy that still marks local traditions. Fishing, reindeer rearing sledge-racing, here people live from their manual labour.
Located in the middle of the Bering sea, Saint-George Island is the second biggest island of the Pribilof archipelago. A special atmosphere emanates from this landscape of volcanic craters and tundra: wild lands surrounded by a sumptuous coastline of majestic cliffs. You may very well spot some migratory birds that come and settle here all year round, making this a perfect place for observing many different species. Fur seas, also called Pribilof seals, have made this haven of peace their home with its rich biodiversity.
Clinging to the southwestern tip of Alaska, between the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea, the port of Dutch Harbour offers a delightfully different stopover at the heart of the Aleutian Islands archipelago. A single bridge connects the port to the small town of Unalaska, founded in the 18th century by pioneering Russian fur trappers. With gentle valleys nestling between volcanic peaks, Dutch Harbour reveals a primitive natural beauty waiting to be explored. When spring blossoms here, a carpet of wild-flowers, moss, and lichen replaces winter’s vast white expanses. During your cruise, discover an exceptional site: Unalaska Island. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea, on the Aleutian Islands, the island offers you unique landscapes: volcanic summits swept by the wind and surrounded by the sea, lush green valleys, sometimes covered with bright Summer flowers, sometimes with deep Winter snow... Unalaska is not only an island with astonishing nature and very varied wildlife, it is also rich in history, where ancient indigenous cultures and remains from the Second World War can be seen and their tales be told.
Formerly a Russian colony located on Baranof island, to the west of the Alexander archipelago, Sitka is brimming with history. The historical national park of Sitka shelters totems carved out of red cedar, a tree that is omnipresent in the region. These totems are testimonials of the former presence of Tlingit Indians. This place is full of natural wonders too. You just have to look up to admire the mountain range around the port. In the distance, the snow-peaked Edgecumbe volcano stands majestic. Numerous islands scattered around Sitka stretch out before you in a vision of preserved Alaska.
Verdant and cosmopolitan, Vancouver is located on Canada’s West Coast in the province of British Columbia. Immerse yourself in the Asian atmosphere of bustling Chinatown. In Gastown, you can explore the city’s historical side along its paved streets fronted with Victorian buildings. Rich in luxury grocery stores and silk-wear boutiques, the Punjabi Market Indian district will whet your appetite for a bout of shopping. The bohemian cafés along Commercial Drive will surely beckon you in to savour a yoghurt ice-cream sundae. You can then take a walk along the Granville Island Jetty for a great lungful of iodised air straight off the Pacific Ocean.
