Milford Sound Overnight Experience

MILFORD SOUND OVERNIGHT CRUISE

Explore this spectacular southern fiord in peace and tranquillity; when day visitors have departed the scene.
Milford Sound is a 22-km narrow fiord off the Tasman Sea, surrounded by cliffs, peaks & waterfalls. In an area often visited by rain, the mountain peaks are often softened by mist and an air of mystic calm. Mitre Peak, rising majestically to 1692m, and the 146m Stirling Falls are but two features of the magnificent landscape of Milford Sound.
Maori legend says it was Tu Te Raki Whanoa, an adze-wielding godly figure, who created the fiords. With incantations and his magic adze, Tu Te Raki Whanoa sculpted his finest work: Piopiotahi, meaning "single thrush," which is Milford Sound today. A variety of marine life can be viewed at close hand from cruise ships, including fur seals, crested penguins and dolphins.
